NOTE ADDRESS WAS ALWAYS TO NEW YORK NO MATTER WHERE THE SOLDIER WAS DURING THE WAR.
I will share a portion of a V-MAIL Uncle Charlie wrote on December 7, 1943 at this point to remind us why my uncle along with thousands of other soldiers had to be in Northern Ireland. I will write the full letter in the next post. I will also use sources from the web to remind us why we find our soldiers in Northern Ireland during WW II . Please remember some countries that we consider friends and allies today were our enemies in WW II, therefore, a soldier like my uncle did not use words of endearment while speaking or writing about our enemies during those days.
Here is a prime example.
In case you were unable to read the first paragraph of this V-MAIL, I will write it.
12/7/43
Dear
Mother and Folks,
Notice
the big seven in the date and you'll realize that two years ago today
those yellow bellied rats with slanted eyes laid their first eggs on
Pearl Harbor. They'll live to regret that day as will all others who
seek to gain by war.
