Somewhere in England

Dear Mother,Will try to write a few lines but don't know what it will be about. First off I am still well and always wondering how things are at home. A couple of your late letters were very encouraging. Even though you had to use the money it was swell and also a big help you had it. You still know how to get by don't you, Mom?
As for the knife I'll let you know about it after it comes. I can tell you better then if is alright. The mail seems to be pretty good here of course one can't tell much yet.
Gee, do I remember the year Eugene and Joe made so much money on their beans. Seems they got $2.10 a bushel ($37.00 buying power in 2018) for some of them, am I right? I can see brother now with that big smile as he'd say "racking in the coconuts." They sure took a farmer's chance and won.
I got a letter from Grammy York last night in which Aunt Annie wrote she'd received a letter from me Easter Sunday and I guess she was some pleased. Everything seems to be going well up there except they have to move.
Not many from Uncle Roy's family able to go. It sure is surprising when you look around and stop to think.
Gee, it's hard to write when you haven't a thing you can write about. Maybe in a few days some mail will come in then I can answer a few questions. Mom, I've got to stop as I can't even find a bunch of junk to write about, maybe I'm a little tired so will close for to-night and write later. Love to all. Good night Mom, Dad and all.
Love Your Son
Charles
To Our Surprise We Found Some
